With the social distancing guidelines we are following, it’s all too easy to feel disconnected with our friends, family, and society in general. Here’s a few ideas that people around the globe have came up with for us all to feel a little more connected while still keeping a safe distance from each other.
Howling at the Moon
At 8pm every evening, people in major cities are stepping outside of their home and howling at the moon. Why, you ask? Some are doing it for a communal experience, others howl to honor medical and other essential workers, and there’s some who do it because it’s just plain fun. It’s probably a good way to release some frustration from being stuck at home for weeks also!
People are putting bears in their windows for kids to find when they’re out walking in their neighborhoods. It turns into an almost scavenger hunt especially when the stuffed animals are moved to different windows occasionally.
Any nice smooth rock makes for a great painting surface if you have an artistic ability or it makes a great art project for kids who are now being homeschooled. After the paint has dried, you can leave these rocks around your neighborhood or parks for others to find and hopefully put a smile on a stranger’s face.
Who doesn’t like drawing with sidewalk chalk?? Draw a game of hopscotch on the sidewalk, let neighbors know to send toilet paper, or just write words of encouragement to let people know that we’re all in this together!
